Dark Ascension – Spoiler – Mythic Werewolf – Huntmaster of the Fells – Ravager of the Fells

Hello my Nurglings!

My god so many Werewolves! And I think most if not all of them from Dark Ascension are spoiled now right? Oh you didn’t know? The mythic Werewolf has been revealed! Guess what, it does everything you want it to do. Well maybe not, but this card, gives you sweet effects no matter what side it transforms into.

Just look at it!

Day side:
When the card itself enters the battlefield, or when it is transformed to its day side, Huntmaster will create a 2/2 green wolf creature token. I love creature tokens! So already there I was satisfied by what this card was doing on its human side. One of the better day effects among werewolves so far. I was almost about to look at the other side of this card as I noticed that there was one more line of text. You ALSO gain 2 life when it enters/transforms, this may not sound so important, but adding up the other side…

Night side:
Okay, so you shock your opponent and any one creature he controls for 2 damage. May not sound that important, but adding the fact that you also gained two life when he entered the battlefield you will gain a life advantage of 4, and +2 every turn that he transforms. That is without counting the fact that he creates 2/2 wolf tokens AND kills small creatures (and there are plenty of those in the format). Oh and he’s a 4/4 trample.

I’m loving this card, and I think I’m doing a werewolf deck.

Until next time, take care Nurglings.

Dark Ascension – Spoiler – Wolfbitten Captive – Krallenhorde Killer

Hello my Nurglings!

I’m sorry but it’s time for another Dark Ascension spoiler. I know it’s boring for all of you that don’t follow up or like Magic The Gathering. But, it’s that time of the year I’m afraid, I will be trying to do other articles as well!

So it’s time for another Werewolf card, and I must say I’m getting a bit excited about the future for Werewolves. They are getting another 1 mana drop! But this time the Werewolf is in green, so it looks like Reckless Waif will finally get a buddy, and mono green will get an early aggressive drop if they pick to play it.

Yea I’m just showing this one, I will be doing a Werewolf deck in the near future. So just hold on for more!

Until next time, take care Nurglings.

Dark Ascension – Spoiler – Immerwolf / Everwolf – Werewolf lord!

Hello my Nurglings!

Who would expect that one of the best creature cards for a Werewolf deck would not be a werewolf itself, but rather a Wolf? Well a new card was spoiled late night yesterday (for me anyways) that made other tribe lords jealous. Why? For one, it got three good effects instead of the usual two, and two, it is not a RARE! It’s an uncommon multicolor card that fits the Werewolf’s puuuurfectly.

Here it is:

OH I’m sorry it’s in German, here ya go:

Immerwolf
(or Everwolf) 1GR
Creature – Wolf
Intimidate
Other Wolf- and Werewolf creatures you control get +1/+1.
Werewolves you control that aren’t Humans can’t transform.
2/2

So what does this mean for you, well, as long as this guy is on the field he helps all your werewolf dudes to stay on the dark side. And that is just amazing, one of the biggest problems for a Werewolf deck right now, is that you have to make sure when and why you cast your spells. This also ENABLES you to play more than one spell each round and in combat where you want to use your tricks.

Red and Green are usually two colors that want to do more than just one thing every round, and this card helps a lot when wanting to do MORE. You can cast more creatures, you can buff and protect your dudes. Amazing. I know this is JUST a creature, and that makes him vulnerable to a lot in the format, if he disappears from the field you may have an unwanted result. But you will stay play him at 4 in a dedicated Werewolf deck.

By the way, not only does he help you from Transforming, he also buffs your other Werewolf creatures. Like another tiny lord that may just be to tiny right now for the format? Hint hint.

Until next time, take care Nurglings.

One good rumor, one bad rumor and the ulgy. (Planeswalkers, Ravniva & Innistrad)

Hello my Nurglings!

Time for some sad news, and some good news. Not really sure were to start so let’s just start shall we.

Sad “fact”:
We’re not returning to Ravnica.
According to the latest rumors going around the community and the web and what not, Wizards Of The Coast are NOT planning to return to Ravnica in the next block. They tried a return with Mirrodin and they seem to be done trying that for now. Sad for all Ravnica lovers, awesome for people that wants to see a new plane.

Sad fact two:
There won’t be a werewolf Planeswalker.
Instead of explaining it, let’s just show this that was posted by Mark Rosewater through his Twitter.

kizer91 asked: you mentioned earlier the possibility of a werewolf planeswalker. Is it at all possible to see him/her in the future? Also, is it possible to see planeswalkers that work specifically for tribes in the future? As of right now, there is only Nissa…
Maro: There isn’t going to be a werewolf planeswalker. I talked about how I proposed one (I actually designed one with my team) but Garruk was a better choice for the double-faced planeswalker. What is coming later in the block is a mythic rare werewolf.

Awesome “fact”:
“There will be” TWO Planeswalkers in the last set of the Innistrad block.
Rumors. But awesome rumors none the less!

Until next time, take care.

Innistrad Werewolves – They’re looking strong (and a new land card!)

Hello my Nurglings!

Welcome back for more Innistrad and some thoughts around it, also I’m going to show a completely new land card that was revealed… I believe today. Werewolf seems to be a very powerful beat down deck in the next format, may not be as quick as a vampire deck, but what they lack in speed, they make up for in power. Let’s take a look at a few of the cards that seems awesome in constructed.

This guy was the first creature that I thought: hey, red werewolves aren’t looking awful, actually, they are looking awesome. A creature that when it transforms is hitting your opponent for six, isn’t a bad one, it also turns all your werewolves in to Stormblood Berserkers (can only be blocked by two or more creatures). All this for only three mana, sounds awesome doesn’t it, the major problem, it has to be turned over to work properly,tThe one big weakness with werewolves. That may also be the reason that they’ve made them so powerful for a small cost.

Next card!

Wildblood Pack, want to know something fun? Two of these on the field equals 22 damage if they aren’t blocked. Yes. 22 damage. To the face. If not blocked. But remember the card we looked at above this one, all your creatures needs to be blocked by two or more creatures. The fact that it has double strike also means that it will deal 18 damage if not blocked while two of these are on the field. Did I mention the trample? Yes, this guy is looking insane, auto include in any werewolf deck. The problem, they need to transform, and they need to stay that way so that you can kill your opponent. The human forms are not that impressive. But there is one card that can laugh in your opponents face. This one – Moonmist.

So I attack with this and this werewolf in human form, my opponent thinks: meh in human form they don’t do that much. Moonmist. BAM. Damage. Moonmist is the card that creates weird situations for your opponent, when you start attacking with the human forms even though he got several strong blockers on his side that can kill them, he as to think: is Moonmist coming out? It’s not lethal and I dont want to lose my creatures, and if I don’t block will he just keep it? It’s a trick that you need to keep aware of constantly, unless four of them been played already.

I know you’ve all been waiting for the new land card. Without further ado here you go!

Yes. I like. I like it a lot! Even when you’re not in werewolf form your humans can start doing damage with a buff and trample. It’s not optimal but it also means you can do something on your turn without casting a spell. Which is great for the werewolf deck.

Until next time, beware of the mist.

19 cards from Innistrad – with pictures

Hello my Nurglings!

Guess what, Magic and Wizards of the Coast just had one huge reveal yesterday on PAX about Innistrad. Soooo many cards has been spoiled and I must say it’s looking awesome so far. I am going to draft this set a lot to try and get all the cards I need. LOVING IT.

I’m going to take some time this week to talk about new Innistrad cards, where I would I like to use them and why. Why the card is awesome (at least at a first look) and so on. But for now, I’m just going to show you all the cards. Enjoy.

Innistrad – Card Artwork

Hello my Nurglings!

Daily MTG just posted an article about the next set Innistrad. Like always, this is a presentation and introduction of Innistrad and its story. So far I must say I’m very impressed with the feel and even the artwork of this set. I always used to say I loved the feel of Ravnica and Kamigawa, but I do believe this set will blow me away far beyond that. Mostly cause I love old horror movies, stories and books. This set feels like it’s created for just me (well it’s not)!

Anyway, if you want to read about it all just go here: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/stf/157

That is also the place where I found all these awesome images. Enjoy the feel of Innistrad!

Until next time, take care!

Innistrad – Night & Day mechanic – New cards – Thoughts

Hello my Nurglings!

once again I’m way way waaaaaay to excited to be writing about this before I get the whole thing sorted in my head, but this is a blog and I don’t mind being somewhat disoriented in what I’m writing. It’s for fun after all, oh to the big news!

Mark Rosewater, the lead Designer of Innistrad posted a picture on his twitter some time ago. Where he is telling us that someone out on the web figured out exactly what they’re doing with the next set (Innistrad) but nobody believed him.

Here is the picture:

And with this I will in a second present to you… you already went ahead scrolled down and looked at it didn’t you? Aw my Nurglings, you’re such skippers. Love yah! Here it is, some cards from Innistrad, let me talk about them in a second, I know you will want to look at the card properly first.

Okay so… what is being discussed right now? The biggest problem people are having is this: how does that werewolf card work? Why doesn’t it have a casting cost? What’s the day and night mechanic? Do I have the answers, no, do I have some thoughts about it? Definitely. So one question at a time.

What does it say on the werewolf card?
Even if nobody knows for certain, this is just a hint of what it MIGHT say.
All “creature type” you control get +1/+1.
During your end step, put a “creature type” 2/2 on the battlefield.

What’s that sun and moon thing in the left corner?
This is a completely new mechanic (duh?) that has to do with Night and Day. How this will actually work or what decides when it’s sunup or sundown we don’t know yet.

Why is there no casting cost on Howlpack Alpha?
I believe this has to do with the card next to him: Mayor of Avabruck. I don’t believe that Howlpack Alpha can be “casted” in its original sense; instead, with the help of the Night & Day mechanic, you will be able to switch out the Mayor for a werewolf during night time. There are several different ways to do this, it may remind of the Champion mechanic, remove the mayor until the werewolf disappears and he comes back in to play. Plenty of fun if you ask me! There may be something else, flipping the card over is something that’s been discussed (having another artwork on the back), but since drafting is so big in magic, I doubt they will do it like that, unless drafting with Innistrad will be out of the picture. Just flipping it in a morph like way is a possibility too.

What is that dot on the type line on the werewolf?
As we talked about, the werewolf don’t have a casting cost, in the past card like this needed the text: “Spell X name is blue.” By putting this colored dot on the type line they eliminated the need for that text. (Speculation)

Why are there two strength / toughness values on the mayor?
This probably has something to do with him turning in to a werewolf, the scary part is that it’s an arrow like shape next to it, are they really double sided art card? Or is it just to make those extra numbers more visible?

Why do you think the cards are related?
Same artist, same window in the background, the human is a werewolf in its type line. Next to the previewed human werewolf card is a werewolf without casting cost. The extra strength toughness value equals that of the Howlpack Alpha. One card is day, one card is night. I don’t think it’s by chance.

Until next time.
Stay tuned for more Innistrad!
