Pokémon TCG deck – New Night March [Standard]

Hello Nurglings!

Main Pokémon: New Night March
Deck Name: New Night March
Format: Standard 2015 – 2016

Night March

4 Joltik 4 Acro Bike 4 Double Colorless Energy
4 Lampent 4 Battle Compressor 2 Psychic Energy
4 Pumpkaboo 4 Trainer’s Mail 1 Lightning Energy
3 Shaymin EX 4 Ultra Ball
4 VS Seeker
4 Dimension Valley
3 Professor Sycamore
2 Revive
2 Switch
2 Lysandre
2 Muscle Band
1 Hex Maniac
1 Professor Birch’s Observations
1 Teammates

Hints / Things to think about

  • Ultra Ball is not only a way to find Shaymin EX and discarding Night March creatures. You can also use it to search for a extra Night March creature in the early turns to discard when you play a card like Sycamore.
  • If able, always try and go for the 2 price knockouts, it truly does not matter if this gives your opponent a chance to get Knockout the turn after. The important thing is to be ahead, not to save your Pokémon.
  • Is that a Pyroar? Hex Maniac is the answer!
  • We no longer have Mew EX as our extra/good attacker, but we do have Revive to give us a second chance with those creatures.
  • If you can not afford Shaymins: Try and get a 2-2 line of Milotic with the Sparkling Ripples ability (Primal Clash)

Pokémon TCG deck –Latios EX / Crobat [Standard]

Hello Nurglings!

Main Pokémon: Latios EX / Crobat
Deck Name: Latios Intolerant
Format: Standard 2015 – 2016

Latios EX

4 Latios EX 4 VS Seeker 4 Dragon Energy
2 M Latios EX 4 Trainers’ Mail 4 Psychic Energy
2 Shaymin EX 4 Ultra Ball 1 Water Energy
4 Zubat 4 Muscle Band
4 Golbat 3 Professor Sycamore
3 Crobat 3 Super Scoop Up
2 Latios Spirit Link
2 Lysandre
1 Battle Compressor
1 Ace Trainer
1 Hex Maniac
1 Shauna
1 AZ
1 Pokemon Fan Club

Hints / Things to think about

  • So first of all, the M Latios EX that is used in this deck is not your main attacker, it’s there for the abiltity to snipe Pokémon on the bench. It can pull of some impossible wins by just hitting that benched Shaymin EX. In most games tho, Basic Latios EX will beyour main attacker.
  • Do not be affraid to throw away cards in the first turn if you need to find energies or Muscle Bands. This is a general rule for the Pokémon TCG but make sure to remember this even when you sit several parts of the Crobat line in your hand.
  • Super Scoop is not only for the Crobats and Shaymins. It’s also there for healing, returning energys to your hand and ofter nifty trix.
  • M Latios EX has NO RETREAT COST. It’s something I tend to forget becuase it does not feel like a free retreater… but it’s very important to remember.

Pokémon TCG deck – Ancient Trait Gyarados [Standard]

Hello Nurglings!

Main Pokémon: Ancient Trait Gyarados
Deck Name: Splash
Format: Standard 2015 – 2016

Ancient Trait Gyarados

4 Magikarp 4 Dive Ball 3 Water Energy
3 Gyarados 4 VS Seeker 4 Double Colorless Energy
2 Feebas 4 Trainers’ Mail
2 Milotic 4 Muscle Band
2 Shaymin EX 4 Team Magma’s Secret Base
3 Level Ball
3 Professor Sycamore
2 Ultra Ball
2 Switch
2 Shauna
2 Sacred Ash
1 Battle Compressor
1 Hex Maniac
1 AZ
1 Lysandre
1 Wally
1 Archie’s Ace in the Hole

Hints / Things to think about

  • Make sure you know how many Magikarps are available in your deck, and with knowing that, make sure you know how much damage you can put out. Going for it just to realize that you were just 10-20 damage away from a knockout can be devestating.
  • Magma’s Secret Base is a key for your victory it should be a priority to get it every game!
  • Wally can pull of some great wins in the early game by evolving a Magikarp on the turn you play it. But always remember that Milotic only works if you play it from your hand so do not waste your Wally on it!
  • If you’re a new player you can easily make this deck affordable by replacing the two copies of Shaymin EX with another Pokémon!
  • The main combo of the deck is to have Team Magma’s Secret Base out while you play Magikarps to enpower Gyarados attack.

7 Decks, 7 Games, 7 Days – Arcanist Menace (The Spoils)

Welcome to the first day of seven! The following week I will be visiting seven different card games, and show you seven different decks (one from each), decks constructed just for you guys. Some decks may be more competitive than others, and some may be just for the fun of it. Whatever reason the decks are put out, there will be seven decks in the following week and the last one will be posted on Friday.
The very first deck I’m posting is from the lovely game The Spoils, the game I promised to talk more about in the future, and here we are in the future! The deck will be focusing on my favorite faction from the game, The Arcanists. This hellish, occult, horror and Cuthulu inspired faction have plenty of fun toys to play with, let’s take a look at the deck piece by piece.

I’m going to start with the tactics, these cards are the fuel and control elements of the deck. They will protect you and look for the components you need to win in a given situation.

Tactic: 26
4x Obsessive Compulsion
4x Brainbath
4x Karmic Cake
4x Desolate
4x Encumber
4x Muddle
2x Inhibit

In the three first spots we have the cards that will dig deeper in to the deck and the needed cards for any situation. If you’re a Magic The Gathering player Obsessive Compulsion and Brainbath are both cards that you will recognize, well at least the general style of the cards, they’re very blue-ish. Together with these two cards we’re also using Karmic Cake, yes this deck is not completely mono Arcanist, but only a few Banker cards will actually be used in the deck. Karmic cake is one of those great cards for searching out your double resources, and you want to find them fast in this deck. Between Karmic cake, Obsessive Compulsion and Brainbath you should be able to.

The rest of the tactics are all there to handle different kinds of threats. Desolate for aggressive decks with plenty of Characters (go go Party Clowns!). Encumber is the only real spot removal in the deck, being able to take care of both Characters and Locations, be careful to not use this card to early! Be sure to target the right threat. Muddle and Inhibit are the only two cards used to handle certain cards and matchups, you will eventually learn when to use them (so will I). Inhibit for example is great to stop cards with effects that will destroy your items or characters.

Let’s move on to the characters!

Character: 22
4x Wrinkly Rabbit
4x Hideous Hexapede of Horror
4x Defiler of Innocence
4x Wanton Wizard
2x Woadenworm Gloamspike, Thabbashite Prince
1x Swarm of Gnats
1x Servile Centipede
1x Spastic Tentacles
1x Violating Anomaly

Let’s discuss the two win conditions here at the Characters: Wrinkly Rabbit and Hideous Hexapede Of Horror. These are huge when it comes to doing damage, Rabbit can easily be a 6-6-3 or 7-7-3 and a huge creature like that with convert is nothing to laugh at, well I guess you could laugh at the artwork, it’s awesome. Hideous Hexapede Of Horror is a huge Character with a 6-6-6 stat, one of the fastest Characters in the game and for a great cost, use Defiler Of Innocence to grant him Covert when you want to hit for plenty of damage. He also comes with a great finisher effect, if you’re in the lead, blow some cards up, hit the opponent for plenty of damage to finish him off, and enjoy the massive destruction! Remember the cost though, picking 6 characters, this means that you won’t be able to activate the effect until there are 6 characters in play.

Defiler of Innocence is a card that I love, against certain matchups it’s nothing but a Covert maker, but even that can be well enough at times, making your opponent unable to block. When he’s allowed to use his tap ability, he just becomes awesome. Even when you don’t hit a card in your opponents hand you’re still able to SEE HIS HAND, and read the situation and try to create a strong position for yourself.

Wanton Wizard is there to make use of Thabbashite Prince, together they let you reuse your tactics, even if the most exciting ones for that are Desolate and Muddle, that’s not a bad thing. Wanton Wizard, Swarm Of Gnats, Servile Centipede, Spastic Tentacles and Violating Anomaly are all toys for your deck that will be used with the next few cards I will show you. Remember that we have Bankers in the deck…

Item: 4
4x Inadequate Wand

Location: 4
4x Gilded Yurt

Bounce the bounce! That’s right, together with these four cards the last mentioned characters get to use the leave and enters play effects over and over again, doing a few nasty tricks on your opponent. Discarding two cards every turn (or more for that matter), look at his hand discarding the most important card, search your deck for tactics, bounce cards, and put tactics from your graveyard as facedown resources. These effects are all to annoy the hell out of your opponent, some of them may not look all that dangerous at first, but they will add up quickly.

Quick check on the resources, and yes as you can see, Karmic Cake is important!

Resources: 19
4x Neurosis
4x Exploitation
1x Greed (1 start)
10x Obsession (1 start)

Enjoy the deck everyone and until tomorrow have a great time and don’t let those rabbits blow up to much!

Cya soon!

Nurgle / Nurgleprobe – The person behind the name

So I may not be the best writer in the world, I may not have the most exciting blog that you can subscribe to. But you know what, I’m doing something that I enjoy and that’s the most important thing for this little project of mine, a project named Nurgle’s Place. And what is this about? A long boring post? Well maybe for some of you, this is the story about this blog, the person behind it and what it’s been in the past and what it will be in the future.

Let’s all sit down with a cup of hot tea, coffee, coco or whatever you prefer and read this story together.

It’s started back in the day when I went to University West, a school two hours away from where I live. I studied media in all kinds of different forms, interactive, emotional, social, commercial and so on. I’ve always enjoyed the huge subject “media” it covers so much of our lives that it’s almost impossible to comprehend before you take a step back and look at what the world is built of. Anyway, at University West we had a teacher that always wanted us to share what we were doing through blogging or some kind of social media. It may not sound so mind boggling, but during those courses, the subject of putting our work and thoughts on blogs became highly debated. What you’re looking at now, is something that has grown out of that. A blog where I share my interests and thoughts about games and other nerdy things.

To be honest, and you have to be honest at times, I’ve tried to write about things that are popular just to get a lot of hits for two or three days, I still do that of course but only if the subject at hand interests me. That is also the biggest reason that the blog has some ups and downs when it comes to content, some days I’m inspired and find a lot of things I enjoy, some days I just don’t feel like sharing anything.

I’ve had a few blogs and projects on the web long before this one, one being a card game that I and a friend worked/works on. I’ve always enjoyed creating; creating things that are enjoyed by people out there in the world, sadly this blog can’t cover that many people or even draw that much attention from the people I want to come here. I guess I could go around making a fuzz and noise about the blog and myself around the internet, but I feel that they should find their way here if something on this blog interests them.

The last week or maybe even weeks I’ve had a lot of things to think about when it comes to my blogging, should everything be shared, should the blog have a bigger focus on a certain subject to let a certain crowd enjoy it. I see a lot more activity on the blog when it’s about card games, I love card games and always try to stay on top of the ones I actually play, and I’ve tested more card games than I can count, well maybe not, I guess I can count to ten or so. I’ve never been a great player in any of the card games I tend to play, but I don’t mind being okay in several of them. Currently I’m even a Judge in the tournament card game: The Spoils. A game that I really hope will grow and become something big in the future. This blog will try it’s best to help that game out from now on. So prepare for some The Spoils content everyone.

Video games. Yea I guessed you would ask about that, I love video/pc games, and these days I mostly play the ones that allow for multiplayer, I enjoy good stories, but playing with friends is really the most enjoyable thing when it comes to gaming. Maybe that’s the reason I enjoy card games so much. Card games work, because people find the time and heart to sit down and play with strangers. But about digital gaming in general, this blog is really taking a step back from that, and that’s mostly because of my current economy, I just can’t afford new games at a good rate to review and talk about, and just posting game news like any big site out there doesn’t really interest me anymore (I used to do a lot of that). People won’t come here to read news they can find anywhere else, they will come here to read about new things, new thoughts, and a personal view on different subjects.

Well thank you for clearing my mind this evening, and I really hope you will stick around and keep yourself updated with this blog, now that I feel more secure writing about card games, there will be a lot more content to follow.

Cya soon!

The Spoils – Ett kortspel

Spelet använder mekaniker vi känner igen både ifrån Magic The Gathering och World Of Warcraft TCG.
