MTG – JANUARY 19, 2015, BANNED AND RESTRICTED ANNOUNCEMENT

So the following news just hit the lands of MTG, and the only thing that may effect me in a near future is the fact that Birthing Pod is now banned! Which removed a huuuuge deck from Modern. At the same time they decided to return a important dredge card: Golgari Grave-Troll, will be interesting to see how this will change things up.

September 20, 2011 – DCI Banned & Restricted List Announcement (MTG)

Hello my Nurglings!

It’s time to change up the formats in Magic The Gathering with new banlists. There are some interesting changes indeed! Some that I find sad cause I want to play the card in the format, and some that I find very clever from Wizards Of The Coast. They want to slow down the heavy combo format Modern, and what better way to do that than to stop the cards that go through your deck, some of the combo are still viable but without Ponder and Preordain it will be a lot harder to get there.

The infect deck lost Blazing Shoal for that one hit kill, a one hit kill can still be done but you will have to use other means. Green Sun’s Zenith is saaaadly banned in Modern now, probably because of the power that card would have once the faster decks have been slowed down, Green Sun is a mad card that lets you fetch so many useful cards… I mean used too. So now, I guess Dryad Arbor no longer has a spot in my Modern Deck… *Sad face*
