The cycle of enemy lands is complete!

Hello Nurglings!

The cycle of land cards is complete! Let’s start with the ones we had from Dark Ascension.

Grim Backwoods
It’s so sad that this card is kiiinda costs to much for an effect you really don’t want to use. The whole idea is probably to use it in combination with Undying creatures, but I rather have my opponent waste a removal or do a bad block before my Undying creature has used its ability.
I DO use one of these in my Frites deck though, the reason is so that I can control when I want to use Flayer of the Hatebound trigger to my advantage. Still, probably the worst land in the cycle.

Vault of the Archangel
Well this card is just in so many ways; lifelink and deathtouch are two sweet abilities by itself. Giving both to all your creatures is something that is really powerful. You can control the field when it comes to battles, as long as your opponent isn’t flying over your creatures. But since this cards fits so well with token decks that isn’t usually a problem. Having plenty of 1/1 flying, lifelink, deathtouch creatures… well that is just annoying for any combat oriented deck.

Desolate Lighthouse
A lot of people guessed (me including) that the U/R land would be a looter type of card, I also guessed that it would do 1 damage to target opponent but nope. It simply loots. This card will probably see some play, we will just have to wait and see how… worth it, it is to loot for 4mana at the end of your opponents turn. Most of the time you should have other tricks with U/R deck, unless it is a Burning Vengeance type deck where you want to dump cards. For example, wouldn’t you rather (most of the time) just cast Think Twice or Forbidden Alchemy?

Slayer’s Stronghold
Just as with Desolate Lighthouse I’m not sure of its use in the Standard environment. In block this card is probably great (red/white being very popular in block). It’s one of those cards that will be very very good or okay. Playing a cheap creature like Vexing Devil for example can be very devastating for your opponent. Imagine a scenario where they are tapped out, you killed the defending creatures, they have a lot of good answers in hand but they can do anything on your turn. They are somewhat low on life and playing Vexing Devil can be very annoying when they simply have to take the 4 damage or get attacked taking 6. But if they take the 4 damage, you may still have other good cards in hand that they don’t want you to cast.
I think you understand the idea right?

Alchemist’s Refuge
This is my favorite land of the five. Just image how many end of turn tricks you can do with this card. What can you cast for a little mana you ask. Well, how about an end of turn 10/10 Treefolk zombie in a green blue self mill deck? Yea I know that is just a “fun” card but I bet there is a lot of other sweet uses for it. I love flash in general and I think people will be playing around with this card a lot in the format to come (well maybe).

Until next time Nurglings, take care.

Sorotami from Kamigawa in Innistrad / Avacyn Restored? What?

Hello Nurglings!

Okay so before I go to bed, I really need to post this so I may get some thoughts on it. Cause, my mind was blown when I realized (or actually read about) this. Okay so there is a lot of back story for the Sorotami from Kamigawa. They were basically mages that helped humans to fight the Kami. If you want to know more about that, check around for some Kamigawa lore.

Anyway! These mages, or one of them, may actually have found her way to Innistrad… maybe she feels a need to help the humans fight the evil in Innistrad?
Look at this. This is a piece of artwork of the original Sorotami.

Now look at this small piece of an artwork that is on Magic the Gatherings website.

Just put the two next to each other:

I know a few people out there that will be very excited about this. Sebbe, Frazze, I’m looking at you two. Oh and don’t forget me! I’m excited!

Until next time Nurglings, take care.

Avacyn Restored – Spoiler – Avacyn, Angel Of Hope

Hello Nurglings!

The first card from Avacyn Restored has been spoiled! Yay! And it’s Avacyn herself! She ended up being a mono white creature, even if many believed her to be B/W. I must say, she’s a sweet target for that Unburial Rites. Every single permanent (yes even herself) becomes Indestructible when she is on the field. Tragic Slip will still be a problem and Oblivion Ring for as long as it stays in the format, and well… double Dismember.

Here is the card!

Until next time Nurglings, take care.

Third Set in Innistrad – Avacyn Restored

Hello my Nurglings!

Huge news from Wizard of the Coast! They’ve now told us the name of the last set in Innistrad! Yup! And it seems like it’s finally time for the good guys to kick some ass, funny to see a horror block not end like a horror movie. Where the villain always revives himself/herself in the end when everyone think it’s safe. Or… maybe that is just it? Is Avacyn really a savior? Well most probably… but… I would love to see them sneaking in some story that we would not expect.

Anyway here is the info and some images:

Nurgle Standard Brew – Evil Township Deck (WW kinda)

Hello my Nurglings!

Time to go back and look at a deck that I posted a short while ago, the deck that I then called: WW Token Enchantress. Was it a good name? No, maybe not but it was the best I could come up with on a short notice. The deck has now actually been played during an FNM, with a few changes though. (We had to build it in 10 minutes before the tournament started and a few weird changes had to be made).

I was lucky enough to see a complete game with the deck, and as a bystander I could see the issues and what I needed to change. The deck played Mirran Crusader in this hasty version, which was not in the old list (a good add though it wrecks with one or two Honor Of The Pure on the field).

I also noticed that Mesa Enchantress, even though I love her and want to see her in a deck, is not a good enough card. You want to play the enchantments as quick as possible, and that was slowed down by having an enchantress in your hand. The reason; you want to draw that extra card so you have to play Enchantress first. Conclusion: Mesa Enchantress is being scrapped.

Oh my lord there are being so many changes made to this deck, mainly the creature line up. Let’s take a look at it.

Creatures:
4x Doomed Traveler
4x Mirran Crusader
4x Geist-Honored Monk
2x Hero Of Bladehold

So already we’re seeing a big difference from the old list. Mirran Crusader is added because he was just too awesome to resist, the spot was originally planned to held by Mausoleum Guard so if you’re not feeling like playing Crusaders that’s another sweet pick. Leonin Arbiter is also taken out for a more solid pick in Hero Of Bladehold, you cannot deny her awesomeness.

Quickly moving on:

Enchantments: 8
4x Honor Of The Pure
4x Intangible Virtue

Other Spells: 14
4x Timley Reinforcment
4x Midnight Haunting
4x Altar’s Reap
2x Elspeth Tirel

So now you see why the deck is “evil”, I play four Altar’s Reap to reap the benefits of plenty of token creatures. The deck was originally created to be cheap to play, Elspeth Tirel was actually Doom Blades up till the second I posted the deck here. But obviously she is better for the deck, and doom blades can be in the side board if needed. Or Elspeth can be replaced by Doom Blade if you want to play a cheaper version. Elspeth is a though card though, it was either her or two other cards that that I would love to play in the deck, look below to see which cards I was thinking about.

And the lands:

Land: 24
2x Ghost Quarter
4x Swamp
4x Isolated Chapel
14x Plains

Well that’s it for this time, another take on a WW type of deck, with a higher mana curve than usual. But I hope you like this brew of a deck and please comment if you try it out or have any changes or ideas for it. (Like adding space for those Swords!)

Until next time, take care.

Forbidden Empire Deck – Changes will be made

Hello my Nurglings!

I recently posted a deck called Forbidden Empires, working with the three empire artifacts to create a win. I’ve recently made some changes to deck, realizing that it will be better for the deck and the format. So here we go!What’s being cut? I realized that I only played 4 white cards in the deck, this actually created an odd situation when I wanted to use black mana as well so that I can use the flashback on Forbidden Alchemy. So I cut Day Of Judgment completely, replacing it with:

So the list now looks like this with it’s new mana base. Why the isolated chapel you ask? Well it’s there for more options to your sideboard (mainly artifact/enchantment removal), not sure if that’s needed yet but we’ll see. If you don’t need it, use 4 Ghost Quarter instead. Yes the Kessig Wolf Run is a deck.

Creature: 3
3x Snapcaster Mage

Artifact: 9
3x Throne of Empires
3x Scepter of Empires
3x Crown of Empires

Other spells: 24
4x Dissipate
4x Mana Leak
4x Forbidden Alchemy
4x Think Twice
4x Ponder
4x Black Sun’s Zenith

Land: 24
2x Buried Ruin
4x Drowned Catacomb
4x Darkslick Shores
4x Isolated Chapel
10x Island

(Original deck here: https://nurgleprobe.wordpress.com/2011/10/16/nurgle-standard-brew-forbidden-empire-deck/ )

Now it’s up to you to vote for the card that you think will be played the most, it’s all for fun of course!

Until next time, take care.

One good rumor, one bad rumor and the ulgy. (Planeswalkers, Ravniva & Innistrad)

Hello my Nurglings!

Time for some sad news, and some good news. Not really sure were to start so let’s just start shall we.

Sad “fact”:
We’re not returning to Ravnica.
According to the latest rumors going around the community and the web and what not, Wizards Of The Coast are NOT planning to return to Ravnica in the next block. They tried a return with Mirrodin and they seem to be done trying that for now. Sad for all Ravnica lovers, awesome for people that wants to see a new plane.

Sad fact two:
There won’t be a werewolf Planeswalker.
Instead of explaining it, let’s just show this that was posted by Mark Rosewater through his Twitter.

kizer91 asked: you mentioned earlier the possibility of a werewolf planeswalker. Is it at all possible to see him/her in the future? Also, is it possible to see planeswalkers that work specifically for tribes in the future? As of right now, there is only Nissa…
Maro: There isn’t going to be a werewolf planeswalker. I talked about how I proposed one (I actually designed one with my team) but Garruk was a better choice for the double-faced planeswalker. What is coming later in the block is a mythic rare werewolf.

Awesome “fact”:
“There will be” TWO Planeswalkers in the last set of the Innistrad block.
Rumors. But awesome rumors none the less!

Until next time, take care.

Innistrad Draft & Poll of the day!

Hello my Nurglings!

I still have a Innistrad release draft that I promised you to talk about. I kind of regret promising that and that’s why this post has been soooomewhat delayed. You see, I did shit (not going to talk about the draft I did after that cause that was even more shit). So why did I do so bad? I did the one thing that I’ve told myself never to do, I forced the colors I wanted to play, I passed on good cards in U/B and forced myself in to R/W. Cause I LOVE red and white in this set when it comes to limited, does that mean that I should force it? No No no and no.

I ended up going 2 – 3 and walked home with an Army of the Damned, I got one more in my second draft as well so now I got the 2 I need for my zombie deck, not all terrible.
So next format, what do you think I should play?

R/B – Vampires
U/B – Control
G/B – Zombie
U/W/B – Solar Flare
U/W/B – Puresteel

Cast your vote cause I’m really not sure. Also to mention; I will have more to say about the deck I play, maybe even post videos about it when the time comes.

Thanks for voting!
Until next time, take care.
