The MetaPod – XY: BREAKthrough set review w/ WanderingVenser

Hello Nurglings!

Welcome to the first official blog post where I announce the fact that our “Pokémon talk” recordings shall now be called:

The Metapod Log

I’m aware that this recording is VEEERY long, but we talked about every single card and we may have spent a bit to much talking about the early bad cards just to rush through them towards the end.

BUT, still had a great and fun time reviewing this card for card, and I hope you will enjoy it as well.

Thanks for watching/listening!

Selesnya Event Deck – Decklist + Value analysis!

Hello Nurglings!

Sorry about the late update but in the coming hour there will be a few updates and posts and so on! So stay in touch! 😀

First of all let’s take a look at the latest event deck and let’s do it from a money standpoint. How worth is this event deck for you if you’re a collector / trader? All the prices below are from trollandtoad.com

Selesnya Event Deck - Box

LANDS
When it comes to lands the ones worth talking about is a single copy of: Godless Shrine and Grove of the Guardians. These together ends up at the price:

~11.50$

CREATURS
The creatures are not very exciting, if you need any of these cards I would recommend just trading for them or buying them from a card shop, the prices should be about the same or lower then the ones below.

Champion of Lambholt – 1.89$
Geist Honored Monk – 0.49$
Odric, Master Tactician – 1.49$
Wayfaring Temple – 0.79$
4x Centaur Healer – 1$

~ 5.50$

OTHER SPELLS
And here comes the moneys!

Advent of the Wurm – 6.49$
4x Call of the Conclave ~ 1$
Growing Ranks – 1.29$
Increasing Devotion – 0.89$
4x Intangible Virtue ~ 6$
3x Lingering Souls ~ 6$
Parallel Lives – 3.69$
2x Rancor ~ 6$
4x Selesnya Charm – 4$

~35$

Okay so there are the values and we ended on a proper value of 35$ and that is without counting all the very cheap common cards. So what is the price of the even deck itself? It’s 24.99$ if we use the same source. So in that alone I would say that the deck is worth it. Even without the money worth I would say that you get a fair amount of “okay” cards if you’re a newer player, getting this deck and building from it could definitely work out!

Here is the complete decklist:

24 LANDS:
4 Evolving Wilds
6 Forest
1 Godless Shrine
1 Grove of the Guardian
7 Plains
4 Selesnya Guildgate
1 Swamp

8 CREATURES:
1 Champion of Lambholt
2 Doomed Traveler
1 Geist-Honored Monk
1 Odric, Master Tactician
1 Wayfaring Temple
2 Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage

28 OTHER SPELLS:
1 Advent of the Wurm
4 Call of the Conclave
1 Growing Ranks
1 Increasing Devotion
4 Intangible Virtue
3 Lingering Souls
1 Parallel Lives
2 Rancor
3 Rootborn Defenses
4 Selesnya Charm
4 Wake the Reflections

15 Sideboard
4 Centaur Healer
3 Druid’s Deliverance
4 Pacifism
1 Rogue’s Passage
3 Sundering Growth
15 sideboard cards

Until next time Nurglings, take care!

Return to Ravnica – 200 Return to Ravnica cards – spoilers just for you!

Hello Nurglings!

Okay, so someone out there got their hands on PLENTY of Return to Ravnica cards, and he shared images of them with the world (very nice of him). Right now, in this post, I will just make one HUUUUUUGE list of cards, nothing fun or special. Later on, I will be looking at what the different Guilds can do for you at the pre-release, and of-course do my top 5 cards (with a twist this time around).

But now, the cards!

(Observe, that several of these had been revealed earlier).
Cards were originally posted here: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=448012

Phew, until next time Nurglings, take care.

Nurgle’s Top 5 – Reprinted cards from M13!

Hello Nurglings!

Time for my top 5 reprinted cards in Magic 2013!

You know, when I first sat down with this, I quickly realized that this list could be 5 black cards. EASY! I love my black cards and there are so many sweet reprints that I cry my heart out over this set, I love it! But… for the purpose of being less bias and actually looking at the cards I’m excited about for the next format well… it’s a bit different.

On the fifth spot…

5. Elvish Visionary
Yes… Elvish Visionary is on the list. I think it’s the overall design that makes me love it. The artwork, the simple design, and the fact that it’s a cheap elf that lets you draw a card on a “Enter the battlefield” trigger. Simple, yet awesome.

4. Serra Avenger
I’m not so excited about this card just because “OMG White Weenie will be so good!!!”, it’s because I love the cards art, and I’ve always wanted a set of these just to have them. Maybe now I get the chance to simply draw a few, sweet! And hell maybe they will be good in the format to come? People will surely try to put it in some decks.

3. Rancor
This is a card that I’m very excited about! Mostly because I can put it in my Modern decks now, and… hell we can play this baby in Standard! Yay! Rancor is a card that I’ve been waiting for to play, and finally I get the chance. Thank you!

2. Vampre Nighthawk
I love vampires. The very first competitive (semi) deck that I built was vampires and I actually did okay with it back when I started with Magic. Nighthawk was of course one of the main reasons I wanted to play vampires (him and Bloodkeeper of Malakir <3). So I’m very excited about him being back and letting me play him for another year. Awesome! You were missed Mr. Nighthawk.

1. Vampire Nocturnus
Surprised? I didn’t think so. THE AWESOME VAMPIRE LORD IS BACK!!! I will overplay vampires in the next format even if it isn’t the best deck, I will ruin it for myself by playing a deck that probably will never manage to do well (or maybe it will). I really hope that the Vampire deck will be okay (mono black style) vampire players… rejoice!

Until next time Nurglings, take care.

FFG Announcing a “new” LCG – Netrunner: The Card Game

Hello Nurglings!

Okay, so I’m just going to share this announcement cause I love the setting of “Android”.
A world that actually started with the board game called Android, and has since then gotten plenty of products surrounding this world like books and most importantly: more games. This is one of them.

Let me share the announcement message with you.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of Android: Netrunner! Originally designed by Richard Garfield and released in 1996, Netrunner was widely hailed as one of the greatest customizable card games of its era. Now, with Android: Netrunner, players can look forward to revisiting the game’s exciting play… or experiencing it for the first time.

Android: Netrunner is an asymmetrical Living Card Game™ for two players. Set in the cyberpunk future of Android, the game pits a megacorporation and its massive resources against the subversive talents of lone runners. Corporation players try to score points by advancing their agendas, and netrunners try to score points by breaking through the corporation’s defenses and stealing valuable data. The first player to seven points wins the game, but not likely before he suffers some brain damage or bad publicity.

So I read that, and sure that sounds like a good pitch and all. But what really got me into it, was the awesome artworks and feel! If any of you played the old RPG Shadow Run and enjoyed that world, you will love this. Sadly there is no magic in the mix, but the world still excites me in the very same way.

I know a certain person that probably won’t be able to stay away from this game (he truly loves the Android universe), and when he gets this, I will be testing the hell out of it! I will be sure to tell you what I think about it once I do.

Until next time Nurglings, take care.
