MTG – Modern Deck – Immortal Allies

Hello Nurglings!

I’ve always wanted to try the ally mechanic in Modern (or actually in legacy but that’s just silly right?) and I looked at one of the newer mass-reanimation cards and I just thought, well if you have a deck with these allies and clones, mixed with this. That can be alot of fun!

So…

Allies work in the same way that they always have, you play them, they trigger from each other entering the battlefield and together they become a force of awesome! Together with some counter spells and a few Path to Exile for removal!

MTG - Modern Deck - Immortal Allies

Creatures: 22

MTG – Modern Deck – Land Maze

Hello Nurglings!

It’s time again for another one of my… weird… ass… Modern decks! And I have not even tried it yet! So I give you all the pleasure of doing so for me. I’m that nice. Yes. So what’s so special about this deck? Well first of all we’re using a win condition that is not very… played at the moment in any format… or probably ever will be.

Dragon's Maze Spoiler - Promo - Maze's End

Yup. The Maze!

So let’s start with the other spells for once. Summer Bloom and Treasure Hunt (Seen below) are the only two non-land cards we’re playing in this list. And it’s simply because Treasure Hunt is giving us one insane amount of value and Summer Bloom will follow that up nicely with letting you play more lands immediately. I was thinking of adding a third spell in the form anything with Cascade. So that you would dig through a few of the spells more efficiently.

But hey, this will be interesting!

MTG - the only spells

Other spells: 8
4x Summer Bloom
4x Treasure Hunt

And here comes the lands…

Deck - Land Maze

Lands: 52
4x Desert
4x Tolaria West
4x Quicksand
4x Horizon Canopy
4x Temple of Mystery
3x Tectonic Edge
3x Maze’s End
2x Simic Guildgate
2x Izzet Guildgate
2x Azorius Guildgate
2x Boros Guildgate
2x Dimir Guildgate
2x Golgari Guildgate
2x Gruul Guildgate
2x Rakdos Guildgate
2x Orzhov Guildgate
2x Selesnya Guildgate
2x Reliquary Tower
1x Mystifying Maze
1x Bojuka Bog
1x Prahv, Spires of Order
1x Desolate Lighthouse

Seriously, you don’t want me to talk about all of em do you?

We have the Maze’s End that will help us win and thin out the deck from gates.

We have Desert, Quick Sand, Mystifing Maze, Prahv, Spires of Order to help us protect ourselves against evil creatures.

We have Horizon Canopy, Tolaria West, Desolate Lightous and Temple of Mystery to help us get a bit deeper and find the best cads.

We have gates… oh the gates.

We have Reliquary Tower that will help us keep the value given to us by Treasure Hunt.

We have one single Bojuka Bog and a few copies of Tectonic Edge cause… Well we may just need that!

Hope you enjoy this deck everyone!

Until next time, take care.

MTG – Standard Deck (Post Rotation) – Grixis Control

Hello Nurglings!

It has been some time since I last gave you a deck for Magic the Gathering (plus I was asked by Mr Tobias to post a few decks so here I am!) There are a few cards out there that I would love to create a deck with and I may as well give it a another try, right?

A few of my favorite cards from M13 are of course forming these decks. Like the new Black and White Knight we got with Exalted, the Exalted land, Rancor, Thragtusk, the vampires and so on. Plenty of fun things to work with. Not sure the deck of today will include any of these yet… but we’ll see.

So here we go!

Yea, that’s right. Grixis Control! The one reason I’m doing this deck, is the fact that I love Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker. It’s a sweet card, and I just really really want to resolve it in a standard game. If I get that to happen I will be so happy! The idea, is to control the field, and win the game with a selection of Planeswalkers.

As always with my decks, they are not tested. They are simply ideas in my head that I write down, this particular one took me forever to finish. Not because it was hard to pick the cards, but because I was not sure what kind of deck I wanted to do for you guys.

Let’s start with the creatures.

Creatures:9
4x Snapcaster Mage
3x Augur of Bolas
2x Olivia Voldaren

A small but sweet collection, they are mostly utility cards that will be good for you to find and do what you need to do. Olivia is the only real threat we have in the creature slot, and a card that can deal with your opponents threat by either turning them to your side or killing them.

I also thought about using Vampire Nighthawk instead of Olivia. But Olivia does have more going for her in this type of deck. Dealing with more things than Nighthawk does. Delver of Secret is also a card that you could include if you find enough cards to exchange for it (maybe the Augur of Bolas cards).

Sorcery: 9
4x Faithless Looting
3x Bonfire of the Damned
2x Barter in Blood

Instant: 10
4x Think Twice
4x Forbidden Alchemy
2x Dissipate

I’m still not completely sure about these cards… There are so many options for this combination of colors right now. It’s just insane how you can switch around with different things to make the deck looks so different. I wanted the spells to work mostly as diggers. Look for what you need at a certain point in the game, and use that against your opponent.

Bonfire feels like a great card to have here to burn your opponent and handle the field if it tends to get to crowded. I’m not sure about the Barter in Blood, but since there are still plenty of Hexproof cards and Regenerate creatures (well there’s only one really) used out there, it feels reasonable.

Now to the beauty of the deck.

Planeswalker: 7
3x Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker
2x Liliana of the Veil
2x Tamiyo, Moon Sage

Test different set ups here, use the Planeswalkers that works best for your gaming environment. I just picked a few that I felt would be useful from a basic set up of this deck. Nicol Bolas is truly the king that you want to get out. It’s a dragon… come on… he must win games right? Right…?

Well the lands… enjoy!

Land: 25
4x Sulfur Falls
4x Dragonskull Mountain
4x Drowned Catacomb
4x Mountains
4x Islands
4x Evolving Wilds
1x Swamp

So that was the deck for today. Hope you enjoyed it.

Until next time Nurglings, take care.
Cya soon!

My favorite new Planechase cards, so far!

Hello Nurglings!

Now when I’m finally back, I can start looking at all these awesome new cards coming out in the new Planechase sets. I really wish that these cards would be legal in Modern(!), but I’m guessing they get the same limitation as the Commander set cards (only legal in Legacy and Vintage).

So let’s look at a few of the cards that I love.

Why do I love this card so much? Well, firstly you should all know that I used to play Sharuum in EDH/Commander. I really loved the whole idea of building a deck with plenty of fun Artifacts. Because of a few of the new cards, I may actually look into an Artifact deck again. I would surely add this card to that deck, not that it’s the best card in the world, but it draws you a card and is a flying deathtouch creatures. Not bad at all.

Also, come on, look at that piece of artwork, it is amazing!

“This card is so good in EDH!” Oh wait, no it’s not really that good in EDH, because you don’t have a lot of good targets. Then again, if you use this card, you will be building a deck to make sure you hit the best possible cards at all times. This is one of the cards that I really wish could see Modern play, I would love to play around with this. This card, Ethersworn Cannonist and other more control like artifacts would make a sweet deck! And once again, look at the artwork, it’s sweet.

Wow. This card just grabs your head and screams at you: build a deck around me in EDH! Even if you don’t build the deck to maximize her effects, it’s pretty damn good in the EDH format. Not only does it affect every opponent on the board, the creatures don’t need to the leave the battlefield in a specific way! As long as they disappear from the battlefield they will trigger Vela’s ability. Make me some tokens and blow em up and kill everyone. Once again, look at that artwork, they have truly outdone themselves with the looks on the Planechase exclusive cards.

Until next time Nurglings, take care.
