A small little list of my 5 favorite female characters of all time, the fifth one still being a bit iffy. There are just tooooo many cool characters out there, but still, here they are. Enjoy!
Game: Parasite Eve 1
Reason: like one would actually need a reason to love a woman that lives in New York and work as a police officer. She can have a t-shirt and jeans and just as well a long evening dress and still kick ass. Most often I tend to love female main characters that don’t need to have a huge sex appeal, instead, they are well written characters with a depth. The fact that Aya is in one of my favorite games of all time just improves her standing with me. Sadly in her latest games, they “sexed” her up a bit, not the way the character should go, and please oh please do a remake of Parasite Eve 1 for the next gen consoles.
Game: Resident Evil 1
Bad lines, B-movie tendencies, graphics that are old forgotten, and still her pixilated self carries her through the story of one of the best horror games of all time. I recently posted that Resident Evil 1 still makes me jump in my seat, and I still love to play this character that has been with the series for so long. She the master of lock picking, like many others on this list will kick your ass if you come in her way. She was a bit more girly in the first game, but throughout the story of Resident Evil she has grown to become a self independent warrior that work hard to stop Umbrella’s bio-weapons.
LARA CROFT (YOUNG)
Game: Tomb Raider
Believe me, Lara Croft would not be on this list normally, she’s a kick ass character and everything, but she’s always come off as a bitchy type of character. That mixed with tight clothes and the horny teens of my generation, I just don’t see it. Like the games, like the style, but she as a character is more of a name then a character that carries me forward in the story.
That was the old Lara, now with the rebirth of her character with the new Tomb Raider, I’m seeing a lot of potential in her. She’s younger, not as brave and her adventures are something new to her. Even though I haven’t seen the new Lara in action, trailers and in game videos is already making me wish I could through her story tomorrow.
Game: Mirror’s Edge
Is this really that hard to understand? She delivers messages in a futuristic world where the government is the enemy. She jumps between buildings, does awesome parkour moves and avoids bullets all in a days’ work. The only thing that makes this a hard character to justify for this list, is the fact that her story isn’t that huge yet. There are rumors of a Mirror’s Edge 2, and I would love to see more of Faith and who she really is. Right now, she here is here because: she is awesome, Asian and lets’ us play one of the best games every (in my opinion).
And the fifth place being *drumroll*:
I DON’T KNOW!
There are several awesome female characters out there, and deciding on a fifth one was harder then I actually thought. A lot of the characters that came to mind were from Resident Evil games. So I’m sticking with that idea.
Game: Resident Evil 2
She is mysterious, appears when she see fit and helps (?) Leon on his quest in the second Resident Evil game. You can never be sure where and when she’s about to appear and her reasons to be there always seem to be her own. Is she working for Umbrella or some other undercover agency? She’s strong, sexy and can handle a gun, what more do you need from a mysterious character in a horror game? Ada brought a lot to the feel and story of Leon’s side of Resident Evil 2, and she deserves a spot on this list.
