Pokémon Conquest – Confirmed US Release!

Hello Nurglings!

Some time ago I talked about a spinoff game for Pokémon on the DS, called Pokémon: Nobunagas Ambition. It’s a strategic game where you use Pokémon to fight your battles instead of different units like spearmen or archers. And soon the game will finally be released in the west!

The game will be released on June 18th in the US. Let’s hope it will get a similar release in Europe.

Until next time Nurglings, take care.
Cya soon!

New Pokémon spinoff game – Pokémon plus Nobunaga’s Ambition

Hello my Nurglings!

So I was checking around on the net, and visited Pokébeach.com. It’s been awhile since I took a long proper look on the news on that site so I scrolled down for awhile. One of the things I found about just about blew my mind!

I love samurais and I always find it hard to hold my wallet back when I see some new game or movie based around them. I always back out in the end cause I need to be somewhat conservative with my money. But this time… I don’t think I can. I need to get myself a 3DS, why?

Cause Pokémon + Samurais just became very real! In a very new spinoff game of the very popular Pokémon game series. What I really should say is the name: Pokémon plus Nobunaga’s Ambition (created by Koei). Koei is a company also known for games like Kessen and Dynasty Warriors, it’s interesting how they just added the names and a plus between them to create this games name; Pokémon plus Nobunaga’s Ambition.

The game seems to have a play style more similar to games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics. Where you control your Pokémon on a map to complete objectives and fight other Pokémon “trainers” (?). Giving another type of RPG feel to Pokémon that feel’s very interesting.

So… I can’t wait for this game! The completion between PSV and 3DS may just have turned in 3DS favor!

Until next time, take care.
Cya soon!

Nerd Calendar – 1st – Christmas Lego Yoda

Hello my Nurglings!

And happy first December to you! The next 24 days I will be posting something very Christmas-e and nerd-ish every day. The idea just popped in to my head, so this very first day may not be so fun. But as I always say: it’s something!

I will try and find better and more fun stuff to show the days to come, I promise! For now:

Until next time, take care!

Respawn Entertainment – First Sneak Peek & New Website

You know what, there’s been a lot of Magic The Gathering the last few days so I thought to myself, let’s talk about something else (before the 2-3 posts about Magic appears again, yes there’s a lot to talk about from Magic 2012 still.

Anyway! You know those guys that worked on Infinity Ward and the Call Of Duty games and so on and didn’t really like the situation there? They moved on and created Respawn Entertainment that’s been awfully quiet for … well since ever?

They have a sneak peak for us, oh yes magnificent sneak peeks ahead sir!

No… it’s just as dull of a sneak peak as it looks. I’m sorry everyone I’ll be back with news when news are actually posted! But at least you can check out the new website, to be honest, it looks great.

Vidoes On BlazBlue: Continum Shift II

Just wanted to share these as soon as I saw them. It’s kinda interesting though, the quality of the videos aren’t that great, so maybe this is some PS VITA vidoes?

My Top 5 Female Video Game Characters

A small little list of my 5 favorite female characters of all time, the fifth one still being a bit iffy. There are just tooooo many cool characters out there, but still, here they are. Enjoy!

AYA BREA

Game: Parasite Eve 1
Reason: like one would actually need a reason to love a woman that lives in New York and work as a police officer. She can have a t-shirt and jeans and just as well a long evening dress and still kick ass. Most often I tend to love female main characters that don’t need to have a huge sex appeal, instead, they are well written characters with a depth. The fact that Aya is in one of my favorite games of all time just improves her standing with me. Sadly in her latest games, they “sexed” her up a bit, not the way the character should go, and please oh please do a remake of Parasite Eve 1 for the next gen consoles.

JILL VALENTINE

Game: Resident Evil 1
Bad lines, B-movie tendencies, graphics that are old forgotten, and still her pixilated self carries her through the story of one of the best horror games of all time. I recently posted that Resident Evil 1 still makes me jump in my seat, and I still love to play this character that has been with the series for so long. She the master of lock picking, like many others on this list will kick your ass if you come in her way. She was a bit more girly in the first game, but throughout the story of Resident Evil she has grown to become a self independent warrior that work hard to stop Umbrella’s bio-weapons.

LARA CROFT (YOUNG)

Game: Tomb Raider
Believe me, Lara Croft would not be on this list normally, she’s a kick ass character and everything, but she’s always come off as a bitchy type of character. That mixed with tight clothes and the horny teens of my generation, I just don’t see it. Like the games, like the style, but she as a character is more of a name then a character that carries me forward in the story.
That was the old Lara, now with the rebirth of her character with the new Tomb Raider, I’m seeing a lot of potential in her. She’s younger, not as brave and her adventures are something new to her. Even though I haven’t seen the new Lara in action, trailers and in game videos is already making me wish I could through her story tomorrow.

FAITH

Game: Mirror’s Edge
Is this really that hard to understand? She delivers messages in a futuristic world where the government is the enemy. She jumps between buildings, does awesome parkour moves and avoids bullets all in a days’ work. The only thing that makes this a hard character to justify for this list, is the fact that her story isn’t that huge yet. There are rumors of a Mirror’s Edge 2, and I would love to see more of Faith and who she really is. Right now, she here is here because: she is awesome, Asian and lets’ us play one of the best games every (in my opinion).

And the fifth place being *drumroll*:

I DON’T KNOW!

There are several awesome female characters out there, and deciding on a fifth one was harder then I actually thought. A lot of the characters that came to mind were from Resident Evil games. So I’m sticking with that idea.

ADA WONG

Game: Resident Evil 2
She is mysterious, appears when she see fit and helps (?) Leon on his quest in the second Resident Evil game. You can never be sure where and when she’s about to appear and her reasons to be there always seem to be her own. Is she working for Umbrella or some other undercover agency? She’s strong, sexy and can handle a gun, what more do you need from a mysterious character in a horror game? Ada brought a lot to the feel and story of Leon’s side of Resident Evil 2, and she deserves a spot on this list.

Robin Williams and daughter Zelda talk about their love for Ocarina of Time

I love Robin Williams, and when he looks like santa talking about Ocarina Of Time, I love him even more! 😀

A little backstory:

Robin Williams is known for being amongst the biggest fans of The Legend of Zelda series of games. The award-winning Hollywood actor revealed that he and his family have been completely immersed in the The Legend of Zelda series since first playing them over 20 years ago. His love for the series inspired him to name his daughter Zelda after the Princess featured within the series.

Resident Evil Revelations – Gameplay!

Okay, I know there’s been a few videos out there already with very limited content when it comes to game play. Now there is a lot of it, and a lot for us to see and just love and consume and see and feel and think and see. I’m a HUGE resident evil fan, it still pains me that I haven’t played all the titles, I know spreading out to different consoles is good for business but it makes it hard for hardcore fans that can’t afford all the consoles. This game is one of those games, which I probably will miss out on because it’s on the 3DS and my sites are already set on the new PS Vita.

And of course, we all love Jill.

E3 – What it was all about this year – Social Gaming

Hello everyone and welcome to this lovely little post about E3 and what we saw and what it meant and so on and so on. First of I just want to say that it was a slow E3 this year, everything was leaked or talked about beforehand and the information on the things we wanted to know more about was short. A few examples of this being…

WiiU – console or controller? Well it’s a console, but they didn’t really show it. If you looked in the back of the videos though you always saw a small white box and that’s the console! So the main focus was on the controller and well I’m not really sure what to think about it yet. But I’m willing to wait and see where this takes gaming. Another thing that was really exciting was the new depth of collaboration between EA and Nintendo, awesome! Below… yea that is what the new WiiU looks like.

Exciting Nintendo, exciting.

PSP Vita – even if I loved the look and style of it. I will not lie, it’s just a new PSP with new features. But to be honest, I rather buy this right now then the WiiU. Hell I would rather even buy a 3DS over the WiiU. Well, hell there will be some awesome titles for this little machine so I’m looking forward to it!

SOCIAL GAMING

But you know what, the thing that got me more excited than anything else this year, was not the fact that they will release a lot of new games, new game systems and updates. What I loved about this year is the fact that they are working hard when it comes to social gaming. PSP Vita for example, where you could see when friends were online, talk with them while playing, see where they were, it became a social gaming tool. I’m a bit behind on the subject though, never had a PSP or the new 3DS, these consoles may have implanted several of these things as well, but the way the portrayed it for the PSP Vita was awesome.
WiiU was the next thing that really tried to tell us: Play together in a new exciting way. Nintendo has always been great for families and casual players. They’ve aimed their marketing towards everyone (except the hardcore gamers) and I must say they’ve succeeded in doing many awesome things for social gaming. The Wii being a huge part of that, it is fun to play together and it’s an experience for everyone that joins in. The controller, Wii remote, even if somewhat ridiculous to a gamer, is a great way to show of gaming to new people.

“Look all you have to do is this, and this and like that.” – You say this while showing simple movements and everyone can understand it. Moving your arm around doesn’t need more explaining then actually showing it. Saying things like: “You need to make a dash forward and do a high jump,” will not make the casual player very excited. What do I press to Dash? What it is a high jump exactly?

Many games shown on E3 were either mentioned to have multiplayer or some type of share feature that would let you and people all over the world connect to each other. I love to see this, and I’m still waiting for that single player game that isn’t single player. Everything changes in the game depending on the actions of other players in the world, you can still play the story created for you, but all players can have a piece of the action. Not a huuuuge fan of MMO’s yet, but I’m watching and waiting for that MMO that takes the genre one step beyond what it is right now. If social gaming can have a break through, I believe it will be a mix of the MMO game feel, and tools that go beyond the game and system it’s connected to.

Thank you E3 for showing a small step in a direction that gaming should take. Never forget the player that likes to play alone, but always give him the option to reach out to other players.

Ubisoft E3 Conference – What I liked

And what about Ubisoft’s E3 conference and how they did, and what I found interesting. It’s kind of interesting how everyone said that Ubisoft was the worst conference so far. I will just say that I don’t agree, they showed a lot of interesting titles and they’ve learned from the past. It was fun, games that deserved time got it, times that needed less time had less time and so on. The only real complaint being that the Rayman demo took a bit to long, but it was fun to watch and so it’s fine.

There was a lot of interesting things here so let’s just take a quick look on each game here shall we? If needed, I will just make a separate post later if it’s interesting enough. So here we go:

1. RAYMAN ORIGINS
Not a huge title and not something I’m going to discuss further then: it looked fun and sometimes you need a fun side scroller.

2. FARCRY 3
I’m not a huge fan of the earlier Farcry games, but the feeling from the whole idea of “insanity” made me interested in it. The look of it is okay, not nearly as good as other first person games that have been shown so far. I bet all of you out there that enjoyed the other Farcry games will be looking forward to this.

3. GHOST RECON: FUTURE SOLDIER
Thank you Ubisoft! Finally! God I’m so thrilled about this game now. I’ve always been a huge sucker for co-op, not multiplayer craziness but co-op, where you and your friends fight through missions with all the skills and laughs you can muster. They just showed us a good looking FPS game with a 4-player enabled co-op. If I find 2-3 other guys to play this with, I will be playing this shortly after release!

4. GHOST RECON ONLINE
Guess what, they’re releasing a online FPS game. Guess what? It will be free. Guess what? I’m guessing it will be fun!

5. ASSASSINS CREED REVELATION
I’m going to let the trailer talk for itself here. I will probably make a post about this game later on anyway. ^^ (Also: LOVE THE SONG!)
