Magic the Gathering – Dragon’s Maze Spoiler – Render Silent

So I hear you’re talking about Magic.
Let me join that discussion okay!

Time to look at the future cause the future is starting to be revealed to us.
A card from Dragon’s Maze!

A counterspell named – Render Silent

Render Silent WUU
Instant
Counter target spell.
It’s controller can’t cast spells this turn.

Yea we’re already getting more awesome and sweet UW cards. Remember a looong time back that I mentioned that U/W control would once again be a deck. Well it’s happening all over the place. Of course they also tend to add a third color for more greatness.

Below is a deck used by Ben Stark and he tells us about some of the cards in his awesome U/W… erm Esper control deck.

So back again to Render Silent, in these different control decks you often play one or two copies of Dissipate in your 75 cards, a great counter card that exiles the card you counter. The decks that play these already have a stuffed list of cards that they need or at least should play. So the reason I’m mentioning Dissipate is because it’s the one logical slot that this card would take over in those decks.

Now the question: Is this card better than Dissipate? In certain match ups, surely! Aggressive decks will hate this card, not being able to use all there gas for a turn may very well be the difference between a win or loss. But against a control deck in the format, they will probably just smile and keep milling you with their lands or play their creatures during your turn. Creatures like Restoration Angel and Snapcasters.

It will be interesting to see if the card will find a place in the format. It also depends on the format and how it changes with Dragon’s Maze. Let’s hope we see some more Vampires… oh… wait. That won’t happen.

Until next time Nurglings, take care.
Cya soon!
