MTG Standard Deck – Tempered Boros

Hello my Nurglings!

Since a new Magic set has been released, of course there will be a few “new” decks posted on here. This time, it’s more about trying to see the format as it is, and work to play against it. We all could end up playing Drogskol Captains and Green Titans, but for the few of us that want to do something else and enjoy the FNM just as much as the other guy, here is a deck for you.

Yes it’s all about Tempered Steel, but instead of the usual Mono White version of the deck, we have now added several cards that I feel are usable in the current format. If you end up facing a lot of those pesky Spirit Captains, you will love to play both Whipflare and Galvanic Blast. Whipflare is also great since it won’t hurt any of your creatures, except for one.

Which one?

The “secret” tech for this sweet deck is: Jor Kadeen, The Prevailer. Guess what, with metalcraft active, this guy himself is an 8/4 First Striker. Enjoy that titans!

So with the help of Evolving Wilds and the new Red/White land, we have a better mana base than before, and with Mox Opal and Sphere Of The Sun aiding in the cause… yes I said Sphere Of The Sun? Guess what, having a mana artifact other than Mox Opal is something that is very useful. Your opponents don’t often want to waste supplies to destroy it, and it helps with the Metalcraft. If Mox Opal hadn’t been Legendary, it wouldn’t have been as big of an issue.

Another card that really shines in the format is Etched Champion, sure people sidedeck and at times maindeck Ratchet Bombs to kill it, but before that happens you usually do a good amount of damage. And with Galvanic Blast in the deck, your opponent can never really feel safe.

So, here is the list guys:

Creature: 18
4x Memnite
4x Vault Skirge
4x Signal Pest
4x Etched Champion
2x Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer

Spell: 13
4x Tempered Steel
4x Galvanic Blast
3x Whip Flare
2x Dispatch

Arifact: 9
4x Glint Hawk Idol
3x Sphere Of The Sun
2x Mox Opal

Land: 20
4x Clifftop Retreat
4x Evolving Wilds
4x Inkmoth Nexus
4x Plains
4x Mountain

If you want to make the deck somewhat cheaper:
2x Mox Opal
4x Inkmoth Nexus

1x Shrine of Burning Rage
1x Sphere Of The Sun
1x Mountain
1x Plains
2x Buried Ruin

Until next time, take care Nurglings.
Cya soon!
